The Union City Day Care Program participates in the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). As an integral part of our program, students receive breakfast, lunch, and snacks, which contribute to their wellness, healthy growth, and development from infancy through early childhood.
The CACFP's nutrition standards for meals and snacks are grounded in the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and are informed by science-based recommendations from the National Academy of Medicine, as well as cost, practicality, and stakeholder input. These standards ensure that the meals and snacks provided feature a wider variety of vegetables and fruits, increased whole grains, and reduced added sugars and saturated fats.
Parents of children with specific dietary requirements are encouraged to provide home-packed lunches and MUST also submit a physician's recommendations and instructions.
Breakfast will be provided at: | 7:30 am to 8:15 am daily (8:45 am for infants/toddlers). |
Lunch will be served from: | 11:10 am – 12:10 pm |
Afternoon snack will be provided at: | 2:30 p.m. |
Food Allergy: We are a peanut-free facility. If your child has an allergy to any foods, please be sure that it has been indicated in your child’s paperwork and put in writing. This should be given to the teacher AND nurse. All allergies will be posted in an inconspicuous area in the classroom.
Keeping your child’s healthy development in mind we provide a schedule for meals that the children adapt to quickly. However, we will provide your child with an additional snack if she/he expresses hunger. No child will be deprived food. The Union City Day Care Program’s kitchen staff prides itself on the preparation of its healthy menus.
